IMPORTANT COMMUNITY DINNER MEETING NOTICE When : June 29th 2011 Where: House of Gathering Time : 6pm – 8pm Purpose: To conduct a community vote on the accommodation agreement After three challenging years of negotiations, the Mediation Advisory Committee along with HFN’s negotiating team have reached a tentative agreement with the Provincial negotiating team, subject to a community vote on the accommodation package. As many are aware the Court Appointed Mediation process was ordered by Madam Justice Smith in 2008. Glen Sigurdson the court appointed mediator will be available at the community meeting to answer any questions you may have regarding the process. Glen Sigurdson as a matter of course of his duties as the mediator developed a MEMORANDUM between the parties; this MEMO will form the basis for a legal agreement if the community is in support of the agreement. The main components of the accommodation agreement are as follows: • Collaborative Decision Making Model, for forestry related activity at Great Central Lake and associated financial costs for the CDM process, multi-year funding package. • Protection of Thunder Mountain, via a Government Action Regulation order (GAR), funding to assist HFN in the establishment of GAR order. • Protection and access to Cedar, Old Growth Management Areas in and around Great Central Lake. • Forestry Tenure Opportunities, two 800 hectare woodlots, expansion of current (1902) wood to a total of 800 hectares with the removal of Reserve Lands from 1902 woodlot. • 20,000 cubic meters of Non-Replaceable Tenure • Tourism Opportunities, two sites (land and waterlot) at GCL to address the current float home issues, one site to develop a destination resort opportunity. We appreciate that there may not be a lot of detail in this notice; however more detailed information will be available at the meeting for your review and comment. Glen Sigurdson as well as your Mediation Advisory Committee members and negotiating team members will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have regarding the package. A copy of the Memorandum as well maps will be available to those in attendance at the meeting.
